Ray of Light

Title: Ray of Light.
Location: Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn
I thought it was aesthetically pleasing how the concrete breaks where it's holding the soil and out of the break appears a random yellow line. It reminded me of the power of the Earth spilling over a manmade wall, taking over the space that at a time it had owned. Nature is in a constant struggle with the forces of man to reclaim hallowed ground which is the Earth we live on. The texture of the concrete is rough while the soil is soft. The photograph contains a series of straight lines that are broken only as the concrete crumbles. I've been noticing accidental art more and more these days and I blame this class entirely.

Sentient & Obstinate

Title: Sentient & Obstinate
Location: Brooklyn, NY walking down Belmont Ave between Schenck Ave and Barbey St
The work on the right-hand side I've entitled "Sentient & Obstinate" I stumbled across the broken asphalt on my way home and noticed something I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been looking; the street seems to have veins, darkened coarse veins. I then immediately searched for the most "veiny" area and tried my best to fit the bulk of it in my frame. I loved the achromatic look of it, I always loved the way lines denote emotion this may be why both my works contain heavy use of lines and very little use of value or much else. I entitled this work as i did to bring attention to the fact that humanity has instilled this grand idea of having domesticated the entire world and dominates completely, and uncontested. This of course is folly, nature cannot be bound my man, we may try to pave our roads, build our houses, and rule over simpler animals but nature can be seen protesting our stay. We blindly overlook obvious signs such as this one and stick to the absurd ideology that we dominate this earth.

Red Bull Castle

Title: Red Bull Castle
Location: 66-26 Metropolitan Ave, Flushing

This work has repetition and the redbull sign uses primary colors and has a sense of unity and 3D because it is a sculpture. The way I interpret this picture is the person wanted to show how u can take something simple and create art out of it.. in this case a castle.

Twins

Title: Twins
Location: Queens
The rule of odds isn't being used here, but the batteries are small enough so that it doesn't create much dead space in the middle. There is symmetry in this image but it isn't 100% symmetrical because the logo designs on the two batteries are different, but this is literally the only difference between the two halves of the image, so I would still consider it more or less symmetrical. The image is balanced and each half has equal "weight".

Safety's Demise and Heavy Duty

Title: Safety's Demise
Location: West Drive, Brooklyn, NY,
You go out thinking you know what you’re looking for but the truth is you don’t necessarily know, until you see it. I went on a run with my girlfriend around Prospect Park. As we approach the 2½mile mark, we run across Safety’s Demise. The orange safety cone inside a pothole couldn’t have been more perfect. The triangle shape cone sinking into the street is almost abstract if you think about it. Playing with the idea of interrupted organic shapes. The gray cement pavement did not only bring out the orange color of the cone but also because it had just stopped raining and the sun came out. The value in this picture is great, the viewer can clearly identify where the sun is in relation to the cone.  As an artist I tried to choose an angle that best complimented the circle [base] of the cone but also where the sun emphasized the vividness of the orange.

Title: Heavy Duty
Location: Prospect Park
I love Heavy Duty, so ironic that these heavy-duty traffic barrels are “rolled out”, [pun?] Also found this on our run, this was early as it stopped raining around the 1¼-mile mark. On the same path in Prospect Park, Park Slope: West Drive, Brooklyn, NY, 11215. What stood out to me the most, as an artist was the immediate pattern that I recognize? The pattern is the barrels, one after another and you can almost say it never ends because you don’t see the whole picture. And if you continue to speculate, the barrels are coming towards the viewer, almost like an attack, jumping out the frame. The shape of the barrel is circular, or at least the base is, and you see what seems to be perfect circle after circle, and the emptiness of the each circle, playing with the idea of negative space. Of course color is another reason these barrels stood out. Especially orange, such a vivid and eye catchy color, probably the reason officers, etc. decide to use them so much.

Manhattan

Title: Manhattan
Location: Rockefeller Center

While I was walking through Rockefeller center today, I noticed that this sidewalk had a distinctive example of pattern. What drew my attention and compelled me to stop and take this picture, were the  bold lines and dark colors. The way the vertical and horizontal lines interact with each other creates this interesting appearance.  As well as forming some geometric shapes such as, thin rectangles and squares by crossing each other. While viewing the photo I sense sadness and depression. Perhaps the dark purple and blue colors suggest negativity.  The purple combined with white creates a pattern at the bottom of the photo. It enhances contrast by placing the colors below the dark purple rectangle.

Connected & Main Stream

Title: Connected
Location: 31-10 Thompson Ave.
In my own perspective you can see art all around you. The first image I found believe it or not was in the computer room at LaGuardia community college. It is located in the E building, room E141. In this image you’ll see a bunch of cables all tangled together and the center, but getting loose as you look away from the center .The shapes in this image are organic and abstract because there aren't any sharp angles it just flows together. I chose to present this image in black in white because it makes the cables look bolder and creates a contrast with the light background and the foreground. This work of art was accidental because nobody placed the cables in that specific form.

Title: Main Stream
Location: Hillside Ave, Jamaica
The second image is my favorite one because it doesn't look like what it actually is. I also present this image in black and white because it also helps create contrast throughout the image. This is a photograph of leather couch in my local barbershop which is located on 169st Hillside Ave, Jamaica, New York this work of art was accidental because the couch wasn't bought like that it was created by people sitting on it. I would compare this image to a river that is why I named it Main Stream because there are different areas where it breaks out but it’s still connected to the “main stream”.
